A STORYTELLER FIRST:

Rebekah Novinger by age 10 had already discovered the world of music through piano, songwriting, musical theater, choir, ukulele, upright bass, and accordion.  However, at age 10, she thought that opening a bakery and cultivating joy through cupcakes sounded like the perfect life, but since then has chosen a path in which storytelling, designed to cultivate and inspire joy in others, is her purpose.

Throughout her teen years, she developed this passion through The Minnesota SkyVault Theater Company. Touring throughout the Midwest, Rebekah collaboratively produced, created, and performed, in over 5 original musical productions with SkyVault, three of which derived from Shakespeare’s original text.

One of these productions was titled “On the Road to Verona.”

Based off of Shakespeare's “Two Gentleman of Verona” this improvisational and collaboratively created musical went on to receive state, regional and national recognition and was described by audiences with phrases such as “ A-a-a-a-mazing! These young performers' energy, musical writing & performing chops, creativity, media savvyness, athleticism, humor, and literary understanding took my breath away. “ and “The original music was absolutely incredible with one song after another moving the show along and setting the mood in a phenomenal way.”

Following these creations, Rebekah, excited to pursue the arts more fully, began working and performing for the company throughout high school. Averaging 15 hours towards behind the scenes work, and 25-30 hours dedicated to creative work a week her tasks fell over a multitude of variable fields. Including, website and ad design, a variety of company writing (including mission statements and social media), as well as contacting, collaborating and confirming venue related aspects of touring. Loving the fast-paced learning curve, a jack (or in this case Jill) of all trades was born as Rebekah’s joy in acquiring new skills was not an unknown quality to her fellow collaborators.

Currently attending Berklee College of Music, to double major in film scoring and composition with a minor in conducting, Rebekah looks to build upon her founded skills to create stories tied to various media (theater, film, and literature) through the backbone of music. With Rogers and Hammerstein, Michael Giacchino, and Thomas Newman at the forefront of inspiration, Rebekah holds a working passion to tug at the unreached emotions of those with reaching ears.
